Yahoo director of video strategy Rebecca Paoletti told BMO Emerging Media Conference-goers that ad-buyers don’t plan to increase their online video advertising budgets for 2009. Despite stagnant demand, online video ad inventory supply will continue growing in 2009 and Paoletti said it’ll show in declining rates publishers will be able to charge advertisers.
Online video is transformative, but online video advertising isnt compelling (in the current incarnation). Video hosting sites will need alternative revenue streams if they want to reach scale in the next 2 - 4 years.
